PURPOSE

Ohenewaa human rights advocacy programmes is meant to be available everywhere in every locality on radio, TV, schools, markets, lorry stations, among others.

We must help the ordinary person, school children, market women, lorry drivers etc know their basic fundamental human rights and freedoms as well as their legal rights and responsibilities so that they can assert their rights.

Vision

Having worked since May 2010, a month after my call to the Ghana Bar as a lawyer, an advocate and an activist in human rights and feminist activism, and having written several books published and unpublished, Ohenewaa Human Rights Advocacy is my ultimate dream comes true. I just wants to keep building on this dream and expand to other areas of life by giving mass education to the public by way of human rights advocacy. This is obviously what I believe strongly i will be doing for now and the rests of my life.

Education

Lawyer Mary Ohenewaa Afful holds Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from the University of London, UK, and a Bachelor of Arts (B.A) from the University of Cape Coast, Ghana and did the Professional Law Course at the Ghana School of Law and was called to the Ghana Bar on 16th April, 2010. I have worked in notable law firms such as Lither Brew and Co., Painstil, Painstil and Co., Solomon and Associates, among others before setting up my own Mary Ohenewaa Advocacy and Law Consult.

Lawyer Mary Ohenewaa Afful is a full time Corporate Lawyer, Author and a Publisher, Human Rights Advocate, Feminist Activist or a Fighter for the Rights of Women, Children, The Rural Woman, Female Inmates at the Prisons and Their Babies, The Needy, The Voiceless, The Disabled/ Physically Challenged, The Vulnerable, The Under-Privileged, The Homeless, The Orphanage, Abused Men, The Very Deprived Communities, The Ignorant, The Hopeless, Street Children, The aged, Market Women, Trotro and Taxi Drivers Etc…. she is also an author and Publisher of several books including “Women Issue”, Laws on Domestic and Sexual Violence, “Cycle of Abuse”, “Laws on Marriage, Divorce and Property Settlements in Ghana”, “Fundamental Human Rights and Freedoms”, “Slavery” etc.

She is popularly described as a Legal, Gender, Human Rights and a Governance Advocate/ Consultant. According to Lawyer Ohenewaa, she is not only emotional about Women and Human Rights issues but very passionate about them. ‘I enjoy listening to the cries of women and victims of Human Rights Abuses, and try to find possible solutions to their concerns/problems.’ I have always said that Ghanaians should be more vocal in defending their rights and that the silence on the abuse of their Human Rights has worsened the situation.

Lawyer Mary Ohenewaa Afful would want to be recognized in future for achieving her purpose of educating the public especially children on abuse and prevention of crime and helping them know their legal rights and responsibilities, as well as fighting for the rights of the vulnerable and the voiceless, helping women with the law and most importantly, helping neglected and abandoned children.
